Congratulations to Ph.D. Student Alec Smitten who has been admitted to the Medieval Greek Summer School at the Gennadius Library of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens! The Medieval Greek program at the Gennadius Library offers students the opportunity to develop their skills in Greek paleography as well as increase their familiarity with Byzantine culture. The program also includes travel to various museums and libraries within Greece in locations such as Corinth, Mistra, Thessaloniki, and Hosios Loukas.

Alec was awarded a full tuition scholarship to support his participation in this program! Aside from learning Medieval Greek, Alec hopes to study Greek Paleography so that he can work directly with manuscripts in the future.
