Congratulations to Professor Alyson Melzer who recently received an IU Presidential Arts & Humanities Conference & Workshop Travel Grant!
Professor Melzer has been invited to give a talk this summer at the Academy of Athens in Greece, which will be hosting a conference on emotions in ancient literary criticism, and plans to use to the grant to attend. Her talk is entitled "Embodying Pathos and Classicization with Dionysius of Halicarnassus," and will explore how first-century BCE literary criticism uses the emotion and sensory stimulation of readers to build a bridge to the classical past.
Amazing work, Alyson!
