Department of Classical Studies

The Department is delighted to welcome Professor Alyson Melzer to our tenure-line faculty starting August 1. Alyson earned her PhD at Stanford in 2020 with her dissertation, The Somatics of Style: The Body in Ancient Greek Theories of Verbal Art, and is currently serving as Visiting Assistant Professor at Notre Dame. Her scholarly focus on Attic tragedy and comedy as well as ancient literary criticism will enrich our course offerings.
