My work in Greek Imperial literature focuses on the interaction between body and narrative especially in oratory.  I am interested not only in the physical aspects of an orator’s training, but also in how discourse on the body figures in speeches.  One current project investigates how the body features in orations related to dedicatory statues.  A related project investigates the healing role of metaphor in Aelius Aristides’ Hieroi Logoi, a series of speeches chronicling Asclepius’ intervention in the orator’s illness.  I have taught Ancient Greek and Latin, Greek mythology, literature in translation, and introductory writing courses.
